Balanced Hoof Care For Your Horse
No hoof, no horse. The understanding that a horse's hoof health is essential to its overall well being, is part of the foundation of care to ensure a lifetime of companionship, regardless of performance level or pedigree.
No one understands this quite so well as a qualified farrier with a lifetime of experience in the saddle as a professional trainer. Proper hoof care can make or break a horses longevity as a riding and performance companion. Having a hoof care professional that fully understands the owner, rider, and trainers perspective is a powerful advantage in maintaining the wellbeing of your horse.
As a young horse trainer in Iceland, Knutur Berndsen realized the importance of understanding the ins and outs of proper hoof care to ensure the optimum health of all his horses, and particularly to maintain the longevity and soundness of his performance horses. He started his hoof care education in Iceland at Holar University's Horseshoeing program, in 1995. After several years of practical experience in Iceland, Denmark, and Germany, Knutur decided to attend the Kentucky Horseshoeing school. After graduating from the program in 2006, Knutur spent time apprenticing with a corrective shoeing specialist and furthered his education by attending lectures and taking the opportunity to learn from every farrier and lameness expert who he met.
